Hello, Friends.

WHEW... what a HOT, HOT SUMMER!

Are you looking forward to cooler weather as much as our dogs? Fall is on the horizon and we have plenty of events this season where you can take advantage of the cooler temps, all while supporting your favorite local animal rescue, NMAR!

Events are listed in the sidebar or click here to visit our website.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS...
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We need 25 VOLUNTEERS to work Race 13.1 Charlotte Half Marathon and 8K on Saturday, September 22, from 6:30am - 10:30am. We have 19 Volunteers...Whoo Hoo! But we still need those final 6. We need 5 volunteers to setup the NMAR tent and handle dogs at the finish line. The other 20 volunteers will hand out medals to runners.

We are the official charity partner of the race which means we must have volunteers at the finish line. So it's important for us to have our volunteers there representing our great rescue!

Ways to SIGN UP
Sign Up Here as a Race Volunteer. If all 20 slots are filled, fill out an NMAR Volunteer App and mention RACE Volunteer on the form. Already a volunteer? Send us an email and we'll add you to the list. Make sure to share this newsletter with your friends and co-workers. Volunteering with friends is always fun!!

We are PROUD to be the OFFICIAL CHARITY PARTNER of the 3rd Annual Race 13.1 Charlotte Half Marathon!

SIGN UP to run and use code "NMAR" to save 5% and donate $10 to North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue!

We will also be on-site with some adoptable dogs, just in case you need a new running buddy or a little encouragement to reach the finish line.

And don't forget, if you can't run, please Volunteer!

Our Rescue Community, and The World, Has Suffered a Great Loss

Our dear friend Barry, a huge animal advocate who helped thousands of dogs, lost his battle with depression.

You see, Barry was the person who would bring home the unadoptable dogs, the ones that were going to be euthanized due to medical needs or behavioral issues, or the old ones no one wanted. Yes, at times it was inconvenient, but kindness and compassion overruled anything else that was going on.

We miss him dearly and the best way to honor him is to help us find homes for all of his dogs... [read more]

URGENT Need for Fosters!

Fostering is such an important part of our rescue work. Dogs in foster care learn how to adapt successfully into a loving home environment; learn to trust and love their human companions; heal from emotional and physical abuse. All of these together provide our rescue dogs with a greater chance of successfully finding their forever homes.

You can be an important part in their journey home!

We currently have only 2 dogs in foster homes and our shelter is overflowing!  Please, open your home and give one of our rescue dogs a chance at a new life.

The Embassy Update

In case you missed it we are moving to a bigger facility not too far from our current location in NODA. The process has taken a little longer than anticipated but the end result is what matters!  If everything goes as planned with the closing we should be moved into the new shelter by January 2019. You can read more here.

I know this comes as a shock but... We need Volunteers and Donations :)

We will need a small army to help us move all of our equipment and supplies to the new location. Thankfully, it's only about a mile away from our current location. Please sign up to volunteer and/or make a donation to our Capital Campaign to help fund the new building.
